Product Description
Now in a significantly revised and expanded second edition, this groundbreaking work illuminates how racism, sexism, and other forms of oppression constrain the lives of diverse clients--and family therapy itself. Practitioners and students gain vital tools for reevaluating prevailing conceptions of family health and pathology; tapping into clients' cultural resources; and developing more inclusive theories and therapeutic practices. From leaders in the field, the second edition features many new chapters, case examples, and specific recommendations for culturally competent assessment, treatment, and clinical training. The section in which authors reflect on their own cultural and family legacies also has been significantly expanded. New in This Edition *20 entirely new chapters. *McGoldrick is now joined by Kenneth V. Hardy as coeditor. *Retains the same thematic focus as the prior edition, but numerous new authors and topics have been added. *Restructured for even greater utility as a text.

| Customer Reviews: Great book! September 17, 2008 A. Aron (Denver, CO) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a great book, and covers family therapy from the multicultural perspective. The narratives McGoldrick gives of her life are great insight and cause us to ponder how we may or may not think in similar ways - excellent text!
Actualizing main stream family therapy April 27, 2009 Fabio P. Angelim (Brasilia - Brazil) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Hardy and McGoldrick point that it is necessary to consider that dominant ideologies have deep impact in the family therapists interventions and comprehension of the interpersonnal dynamics of families. The chapters offer many provocative reflections about ways to reconsider our preconceptions. The book offers a review of main stream family therapy in order to actualize it in a society more democratic and with multiple cultural backgrounds.
Discontent with delivery September 8, 2010 Jan Arne Nilsen (Pasadena, LA, USA) To Whom It May Concern,
Hi,
I have been and am mostly extremely happy and content with Amazon Prime. I have little or nothing to complain about and I enjoy the quick service and delivery from Amazon. HOWEVER, this time, when I ordered Re-Visioning Family Therapy, Second Edition: Race, Culture, and Gender in Clinical Practice (Revisioning Family Therapy: Race, Culture, & Gender in), I was deeply dissatisfied. I am appalled how slow Amazon's delivery has been. This item was ordered August 31, 2010, and when ordering this item it said that if ordered within this time-frame I would receive it within 2 days. Now, I have been waiting for it since and it has yet to arrive. In my country, customers have rights and when late delivery like this occurs the customers normally would either be able to cancel the purchase or receive it for half the price. I would appreciate if this review would be considered in a serious way because I would like to continue my Amazon membership, but many more of these failures will in fact significantly contribute to a disqualification of Amazon's customer service-friendliness. I hope this can be rectified. This book is an extremely crucial book for one of my classes so more delays are not acceptable for this book.
Best regards,
Jan Arne Nilsen
