Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The seventh edition of this well-respected book continues to promote an awareness of the dimensions and complexities involved in caring for people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Completely revised and updated, it examines the differences existing within North America by probing the health care system and consumers, and examples of traditional health beliefs and practices among selected populations. An emphasis on the influences of recent social, political, and demographic changes helps to explore the issues and perceptions of health and illness today. An essential for any health-care professional, this book sets the standard for cultural perspectives.

Cultural Diversity - R. Spector January 26, 2009 Dorothy A. Otto (Houston, TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an excellent, comprehensive overview of many cultures and serves my need in teaching a unit lecture on Cultural Diversity in Client Care to BSN students in two courses: Health Promotion and Nursing in High Acuity Settings. A text that helps me create case studies of various cultures for critical analysis by the students in Nursing in High Acuity Settings.
Great Informational Book February 24, 2007 N. W. Miller (California) The chapters are long and detailed and filled with statistics and charts that physically show the information being presented. Overall it is a well put together book that remains uniform throughout.

if you are a health care professional purchase this book because it will teach you plenty about culture and life. "In my alien planet culture was an opinion."

It is always good to read the text before... November 27, 2005 M. Salahuddin (NY) 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
The book is based on some solid quantitative studies and it is important that we read the text first before inclining to accept any particular views invoked by reviews. I suggest that you read the text first and then make your mind based on your reading.
